Corrib Kids Coding at Libraries
Children learn coding, robotics with Lego, and digital creation over a 4-week library workshop.
What to expect
Introducing children aged 8-14 to the world of creative technology using a variety of formats over 4 weeks at their local library. Children will connect and create with peers to build 4-5 robots with Lego, connect them to the computer via Bluetooth and code them to carry out various tasks using lights, sounds, sensors, and motors. They program a microbit device to animate, send text messages, play sounds, and sense movement. The children will code a FITBIT and a fitness dice which we will use to promote the importance of health and wellbeing for mind and body. Children will design their own 2D character and world using pixel art. They learn the basics of block coding by using blocks to move a character around the maze to collect coins and earn a score each time. This game they create is published and they can access it at home to show parents and friends.
