Women in Waves

Women in Waves is an empowering music initiative led by Dundalk Youth Centre that supports young women interested in building skills and confidence within the music industry. Addressing the ongoing underrepresentation of women across both creative and technical music roles, the project creates a supportive environment where participants can explore their talents and gain practical experience.

The programme offers a series of workshops covering songwriting, music production, sound engineering, performance, and the fundamentals of music business. Each session is facilitated by experienced female professionals who act as mentors and role models, sharing insights from their own careers and guiding participants through the creative process. This combination of technical and artistic learning helps young women develop a well-rounded understanding of the industry.

A collaborative, hands-on approach is central to Women in Waves . Participants are encouraged to experiment, create original work, and collaborate with peers, helping them develop new skills and build confidence in their creative abilities.

The initiative also includes a mentorship programme that provides personalised support, career advice, and opportunities to build valuable connections within the sector.
