What to expect

Phase Two of I Once Walked There centres on the creation of a large-scale visual artwork inspired by the stories of Laois people who emigrated during the Great Famine. Installed at a significant local heritage location, the artwork draws on the history of Blackhorse Bridge and the canal routes that many emigrants travelled as they left their homes in search of a better life. Through visual storytelling, the piece commemorates these journeys, connects contemporary audiences with an important chapter of local history, and transforms a familiar landscape into a powerful site of remembrance and reflection.
