The Pulse of the Stage: Voice through the Light
Free public choral and musical performances by young people across Cork City festivals and events.
What to expect
The Pulse of the Stage: Voice through the Light is a vibrant intercultural music and performance project that brings together children and young people from migrant and Irish communities across Cork City. Led by the Voices of Peace Choir in partnership with Cork Academy of Music, the project creates inclusive spaces where young people can express their identities, tell their own stories and connect through shared creativity.
Working with children and young people aged 6–19, the project supports participants to co‑create choral, musical and performance work that reflects themes important to them and celebrates cultural diversity. Young people play an active role in shaping the performances, from choosing songs and themes to contributing ideas around movement, staging and costume, ensuring the work is youth‑led and authentic.
Between May and August 2026, the Voices of Peace will present a series of free public performances at major community festivals and events across Cork City, including Cruinniú na nÓg, Cork Midsummer Festival and intercultural celebrations in Fitzgerald’s Park and Shandon. These performances invite the wider community to come together through music, creating moments of connection, visibility and shared pride.
The Pulse of the Stage promotes wellbeing, confidence and belonging for young people from migrant backgrounds while enriching Cork's cultural life through joyful, inclusive and high-quality public performance.
