Families can walk a 4km loop from Mulranny Village to the saltmarsh, spotting various plants and birds like curlews and oystercatchers. In May, the sea thrift flowers are in bloom.
Orchids, sea lavender, rushes and saltmarsh grass are just some of the plants that thrive at Mulranny Saltmarsh. It looks most spectacular in the month of May when it is blanketed by the vibrant sea thrift flower, also known as the sea pink flower.
The saltmarsh also hosts a diverse range of birds such as curlews, oystercatchers, sand pipers and terns. Brent geese return here every year in the autumn to spend their winter here.
There is a 4km looped walk from Mulranny Village leading towards Mulranny Saltmarsh. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the saltmarsh with the backdrop of Clew Bay and the Nephin Mountains in the distance.
