Saint Brigid’s Shrine Faughart

Saint Brigid shares her name with the pre-Christian goddess Brigid and is strongly associated with healing, fertility, poetry, abundance and the coming of Spring.

Saint Brigid's Shrine is a place of tranquil beauty surrounded by a glade of towering beech trees, where a series of modern Stations of the Cross and ancient stone stations, believed to have healing powers, lie along Sruth Bhríde, Saint Brigid’s Stream. It attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year and on her feast day, 1st February.

A public holiday takes place in Ireland each February in her honour.
