The Wild Sky Dome, Bantry, Cork

Settle into a heated dome for a guided meditation on the sky, or go stargazing with a telescope. By day, you can try cloud gazing. All experiences include a walk to the Kealkill stone circle.

The Wild Sky Dome is a guided dark sky experience at Wild Hideaways, in the heart of the Mealagh Valley near Bantry in West Cork. A DarkSky Approved Lodging, the first in Europe, it has kept the darkness here so the sky has somewhere to be. Settle into a heated dome, with beanbags, blankets and mats and a 45 minute guided meditation, taking guests through the sky above the valley and what it shows through the seasons.

Stargazing runs after dark, with a telescope and a coffee table book to help visitors understand what they see. Cloud gazing runs by day, reading the clouds as they cross the valley. Both experiences provide a walk to the Kealkill stone circle, a Bronze Age circle not too far away, raised by people who lived by the sky, lasting 90 minutes, at a gentle pace.
