Lackagh Museum and Heritage Centre

Families can see how people lived in rural Ireland in times gone by, with a guided tour of a restored cottage and old farm machinery. It is open by appointment.
The vision behind the restoration at Lackagh Museum and Heritage Centre in County Galway, was to develop the cottage into a museum of social history to ensure a link with the past for present and future generations. The main objective of the restoration was to promote an interest and pride in local heritage.
Members of the local community donated over 600 household items including, a dresser full of pretty crockery, butter churns, porter jars, sewing machines and a settle bed along with vintage horse drawn farm machines and implements.
Lackagh Museum and Heritage Centre is open by appointment. There is a guided tour available to individuals and groups on request. Please telephone in advance.
